Explore an in depth wild food diet with a range of options to try and hearty meals that involve wild plants and game. Learn vital survival techniques for long term survival and living.
You’ll get to look at processing:
- Burdock Roots
- Water Lily
- Dandelion Roots
- Silver Leaf Roots
and how to prepare and store them for food.
You will also learn to prepare and cook
- other small game
The course begins at 3pm on Friday where we will make a quick and easy stew together with wild game.
Saturday will see us learn an old aboriginal egg cooking technique “campfire eggs” with bannock following by a foraging walk to find all our greens and roots for the evening meal. You’ll also get the chance to have a go at processing acorns and dig up your own vital carbohydrates. We will then prepare the small game feast from fur to pot.
On Sunday we will start the day with more bannock and a chance to wade into the water lily pond and look at silverweed and other roots. You will also get the additional chance before you go to talk survival with Alan & Eva from Alone UK who have already put their skills and knowledge to the test in the Canadian wilderness with minimal tools for short term winter survival – before we finish at Noon.
This course includes camping for tents at the Wellness Woodlands.
All meals will be provided but bring your own snacks and treats or extra nibbles.
